Don’t Be Afraid to Take Breaks

In my previous post I mentioned how I was working to create a free to read comic to share online. It’s been slow progress, but progress nonetheless. I’ve been doing my best to work on writing a couple chapters each week. There have been weeks when those couple chapters turn into zero chapters. Believe it or not, that is perfectly fine because my passion to write the story has not died. That is the key detail you should always hold onto. Relax when you need to, but never zone out enough to let it die.

You might hit walls while you’re writing or maybe your real life has a major distraction you can’t pull away from. Those are the moments when you shouldn’t force yourself to write. Granted, I am a self-publishing author so it’s much easier for me to take breaks here and there, but these words should hold true for authors working with a company. Make your schedule relaxed enough to limit stress. It’s not always easy. It’s not always fun. It is always worth it.

There isn’t much more to say than that. This is also a reminder to anyone keeping their eyes out for updates on my work. There is progress and I have proof here.

Two characters from my in progress comic.

I don’t know how well you can see those but those are the faces of two characters to be featured in my stories. Yes, it’s risky sharing their faces so early because who knows if they’ll change? But it feels right to share with my followers I’m truly working on something. Similar to what I wrote before: Slow progress is still progress.

As soon as the comic is online I’ll start posting links to the chapters on my blog. So follow Writing My Career to receive updates and the links to my stories as they come to life.
