I Love It When I Find My Drive

I’m not entirely sure how it happened, but I’m so excited it did. I have taken hold of my urge to write…again. It’s funny to think I share these bits and pieces about being an author when I haven’t been able to write anything out for my new novel in a long time. I have tried many times to sit down with my document open, cell phone on silent, internet down, and locked in my room, but it still wouldn’t come to me. I started to grow anxious because things were not clicking as I thought they should.

Thankfully, authors can use many different methods to get their jobs done. Some start from page one without a single plan and some start with an outline typed. There is never a set method, but an author has to do what an author has to do. My original plan was to simply start writing and see where it took me. It did not work out that way, but I didn’t give up. I only had to start up some research to create my plans.

The book may still be empty, but I have taken the effort to sort out the finer details for the little pieces that need to be there. I believe my ability to write was put on hold because my passion for the story I wanted to tell was not fully developed. That’s all changing because I have created several of my characters, almost finished the murder scene, and even thought up some steamy moments between the main couple. I am starting to get excited with each step being accomplished. I am figuring out the best ways to connect all the story’s facts, and it’s seeming more and more real. I’m not ready to write every single page, but I do know page one is just around the corner.

Do you hold off writing until you know everything or do you have a different writing method?
